In Sri Lanka today there are many horses, ponies and donkeys that are suffering as a result of poor knowledge and lack of facilities to care for equines. This can result in abandoned or neglected animals being left on the roadside to die. We have also found cases of injured animals whose wounds have not been treated and the animal is suffering and the wound is now life threatening. In a minority of cases there is willful neglect and cruelty. In these cases we are limited under the laws of Sri Lanka to take sufficient action against the perpetrators. Still we continue to lobby for change and try to help where we can. Our rescue efforts are expensive and we are constantly looking for support and donations so that we can save as many as possible. In the long term only education and enforcement of animal rights laws and penalties will make a difference. Below a gallery of some of our recent rescues.
